"You have such a short period of time, limited amount of colors and space to use, and you're doing it all in front of their eyes. So every stroke counts..."
"Speed Painting" is a style of performance art where the painter is presenting a live painting performance in a varied amount of time.
The first time I was asked to present a live painting was my senior year in high school. I pulled inspiration from artists I had researched and studied to perform paintings in the style of their work, accompanied by the high school jazz band. My first live painting was completed in less than ten minutes in front of my entire high school.
Since then, I have taken speed painting to stages and events across the country, completing hundreds of unique live paintings for competitions, schools, and special events. While the process behind each painting varies, the passion for my craft and attention to detail is consistent across the board.
