If you've started searching to hire a speed painter for your corporate event...
you've probably already figured out that this is a pretty small field — and that not everyone offering the service is operating at the same level. As someone who has performed at NBA arenas, international corporate conferences, and brand activations across the country, I want to give you the industry insider version of what to look for when you're making this decision.
You can browse my speed painting portfolio and performance reel, or keep reading for what actually separates a professional speed painting performance from everything else out there.
The painting is one piece of a fully produced performance
The most important thing to understand when hiring a speed painter for a corporate event is that the painting itself is only one component of what you're actually booking. A professional performance includes a custom concept built around your event — your theme, your brand, your honoree, your message — paired with a music track timed to the performance, an intentional visual presentation, and a dramatic final reveal that lands as a genuine moment for your audience.
If you're talking to someone who shows up with a pre-selected image that you don't get to choose and no input on the event run of show, that's a very different product than a fully produced performance designed specifically for your room and synced with your production team. Ask what the creative development process looks like. A serious performer will have a clear answer.

Questions worth asking before you book
What events have you performed at, and at what scale? A speed painter who has performed at arena halftime shows, international conferences, and televised events is going to bring a different level of composure and professionalism to your stage than someone whose experience is primarily weddings and private parties. Neither is inherently wrong depending on your event, but the scale of prior experience matters — especially if you're expecting a large audience, tight timing, or a high-stakes reveal moment.
How custom is the painting, really? Every professional speed painter will tell you the painting is custom. Dig into what that actually means. Is the subject chosen collaboratively based on your event's theme and goals? Is the color palette intentional? Is the concept developed specifically for your audience, or is it a rotating set of crowd-pleasing images with your logo dropped in? The difference shows up in the room.
What does your technical setup require? A professional will have clear, specific answers: stage dimensions, drop cloth requirements, lighting needs, music playback setup, load-in time. Vague answers here are a signal. Someone who has done this at a high level knows exactly what they need to execute well.
What happens to the painting after the performance? This matters more than people realize. A professionally produced speed painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and is dry by the end of the event — meaning the winning bidder at your gala auction takes it home that night, or it can be gifted to an honoree, displayed at your venue, or incorporated into your post-event content. Make sure you know what the plan is before the night of.
What the creative package actually looks like at a professional level
When I take on a corporate event, the process starts well before I ever arrive on site. The subject and concept are developed in conversation with the client — what message do you want the room to walk away with, who or what is being celebrated, what does your brand actually look like in motion? The music is custom-built or carefully curated to match the arc of the performance. The outfit is intentional. The reveal is timed. All of it is built for that specific room, that specific audience, that specific moment.
That level of intentionality is what makes a speed painting performance genuinely memorable. The performers who create moments that people are still talking about at the next year's conference are the ones who treat every element of the presentation as part of the art.
A note on pricing
Speed painting for corporate events is a custom, produced performance — and it's priced accordingly. Investment varies based on the scope of the event, number of canvases, travel requirements, and the level of creative development involved. What I'd encourage you to think about is the value relative to other entertainment options at a similar price point: a speed painting performance creates a shareable, camera-ready moment, produces a physical piece of art that lives beyond the event, and delivers something your attendees genuinely won't have seen before.
When you're ready to talk specifics, I'm happy to learn about your event and put together a custom proposal.
